Aurora Water wins operations award

Aurora Water is an industry leader among water utilities, and an award winning group of dedicated city water professionals literally proved their metal during a fall challenge among water utilities.

The Aurora Water Operations Division participated in a multi-state competition for operations personnel to judge their skills during the Oct. 13-17 Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference in San Diego, Calif. The Aurora Water team competed in five events against 30 other groups from utilities of a similar size from around the country. This year the team—known as the Ascending Aerobes—captured 4th place overall after capturing a 2nd place trophy testing laboratory skills and a 3rd place award in the safety event.

The conference is attended annually by Aurora Water as a way to keep up-to-date with the latest water quality education and training for water utility professionals. Once operational, the Prairie Waters Project will deliver up to 3.3 billion gallons of water per year to Aurora residents and an award winning team will oversee delivery of the project’s water to customers’ tap.
