The Prairie Waters Project will capture water rights the city already
owns, which means we will not need to acquire resources from other
water rights holders, saving the city money.
At a total cost of $754 million, the project is funded through
a combination of developer tap fees and rates paid by customers.
The project is part of Aurora Water’s approximately $1.1 billion,
10-year capital improvement project budget to strengthen the reliability
of the existing water system while increasing supplies and expanding
water conservation efforts.
